This year, I’ve had the privilege of joining the board and using my experience and local networks to open new doors for the charity. From connecting Testlands with business leaders across Southampton to helping strengthen partnerships and raise awareness, my role has been about widening the circle of support around a space that matters deeply to our community.

What has struck me most is just how pivotal Testlands is to the lives of families, children, and people with additional needs. In a world where safe, welcoming “third spaces” are disappearing, Testlands remains a place where people can belong, grow, and feel supported. Being part of that mission has been a powerful reminder of what sits at the heart of our community: people.

And personally, Testlands has had an impact on me too. It’s grounded me, re-connected me with the realities of local life, and reminded me why community matters. Serving as a trustee isn’t just about governance, it’s about contributing to something bigger than yourself and helping shape a space that gives others opportunities they may not otherwise have.

I’m proud to play a small part in Testlands’ growth, and even prouder to see first-hand how it continues to uplift Southampton.
